A total of 362 vulnerable people, majority of them women from 11 communities of Yelwan Duguri village have each received the N20,000 backlog of the federal government’s Social Investment Programme component of Household Uplifting Programme – Conditional Cash Transfer (HUP-CCT) intervention.
Speaking during the payment ceremony held in Yelwan Duguri, Alkaleri Local Government Area, the Bauchi State Cash Transfer Unit Head, Mallam Jibrin Mohammed Fanti, said government earmarked N1.2 billion for the selected communities across the state towards improving their economic status.

He explained said each beneficiary will receive N20,000 as payment of their cumulative backlog of January to April cycle.
Fanti said N10,000 was also given to participating households of the HUP-CCT in compliance with the state selection of Hard-core Responsibility of girl child education.
“The payment is been conducted in two categories, through the Payment Service Providers (PSP) Agents and Digital system.
“The National Cash Transfer Office is introducing the digital payment in order to improve on service delivery, ensure safety and security and also provide the HUP-CCT the beneficiaries opportunity to participate in cashless system regime,” Fanti said
He called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money they received.
He said the remaining LGAs of Alkaleri, Kirfi, Dass, T/Balewa, Bogoro, Toro, Ganjuwa, Ningi, Darazo, Dambam, Jama’are, Zaki, Gamawa and Itas Gadau will gradually key into the newly introduced cashless payment service.
