NYSC to offset hospital bill of corps member who gave birth in camp

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said it will offset the hospital bill of the corps member, Ramatu Yunusa, who gave birth to a baby boy soon after registering for the 2021 Batch ‘B’ Stream II in Bayelsa State.

The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, announced this during a visit to the mother and baby at the Bayelsa State Referral Hospital, Kaiama.

A statement by the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, said the NYSC state coordinator, Mrs Ojugo Elizabeth, said Ramatu was conveyed to the hospital as soon as she started showing signs of labour.

The statement added that the corps medical doctor, Mbanusi Chiebonam Clara, who attended to her, confirmed that both mother and baby were in good condition.

Speaking during the visit, Ramatu and her husband, Liman Suleiman, thanked the NYSC for the gesture.
