E-voting is the way forward – Emir of Zazzau

The emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmad Bamalli, on Saturday said e-voting is the way forward in Nigeria’s electoral system.
The monarch said the system has been fortified to minimise manipulations during elections.
The emir made the remark shortly after casting his vote during the ongoing local council polls at his palace in Zaria.
“Under this system (e-voting) nobody will manipulate figures, As you cast your votes results goes to the collation centre,” he said.
Bamalli said the system has addressed ballot box snatching, among other challenges.
He appealed to residents to ensure a hitch-free election.
“Whoever wins should be supported by the entire community to ensure that we have peaceful coexistence within the state,” Bamali said.
However, voter apathy, late arrival of electronic voting machines and other technical challenges marred the election in many poling units in Zaria metropolis.
Daily Trust, however, observed partial compliance to restriction of movements in Zaria.
Responding to the delay in commencing the elections, Malam Musa Iliya, the Electoral Officer, SIECOM Sabon Gari Local Government, said the office had distributed election materials as at 8am.
