A combined team of security operatives made up of Navy and Army yesterday smashed a car-snatching gang in Imo, killing three of the members.
The military personnel, drafted from the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze and the Navy’s 211 Quick Response Group, were said to have responded to a distress call by the people of Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of the state.
The security operatives, it was gathered, intercepted the car snatchers at Umuonyenwere Umuowa community of Ngor Okpala where they engaged them in a shootout.
Three of the criminals were gunned down in the gun battle and stolen vehicles were recovered.
Commander Brigadier, 34 Artillery brigade, Obinze, General Raymond Utsaha, and his naval counterpart, Group Commander I. Ayo, later addressed some of the residents of the community and commended them for giving timely information.
