Court orders police to investigate Tambuwal’s aide for alleged assault

The Sokoto Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered the Police to investigate alleged criminal conspiracy and causing grievous hurt against Abdullahi Danjeka, who is the Special Adviser in charge of the Sokoto Transport Agency to Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwal.

Chief Magistrate Shu’ibu Ahmad gave the order after he read a direct criminal complaint of 4-count charge of criminal conspiracy, criminal use of force, assault and causing grievous bodily hurt charges instituted by a 19-year-old, Isah Usman-Maishanu.

When the charges were read to him, Danjeka pleaded not guilty.

Maishanu alleged that on June 13, a group of men armed with weapons invited him to Danjeka’s house and inflicted injuries on him.

Earlier, the defence counsel, Ibrahim Abdullahi, urged the court to strike out the case because the complainant could not link the alleged offences to his client.

“There is nowhere in the complaint where my client is linked to the alleged offences. The complainant only said that he was brought to the house of Abdullahi Maigwandu Danjeka by this group of persons who injured him but he could not link the attack to my client.

“I, therefore, urged this honourable court to strike out the case for lack of merit,” he said

Ruling, Ahmad said the defence counsel ought to have made the application before the plea of the defendant was taken.

He, however, ordered that the complaint be investigated by the police area command in Sokoto South local government area.

He granted bail to the defendant on self-recognition.
