20 loggers arrested at Kainji Lake National Park

The National Park Service (NPC) on Wednesday disclosed that it was partnering with other security agencies to stamp out bandits and illegal wood loggers from game reserves across the country.

Addressing a virtual press conference after a joint patrol by the service and security agencies at the Kainji Lake National Park, Dr Ibrahim Goni, the Conservator General, said several bandits were neutralized and at least 20 illegal loggers were arrested during the security exercise.

He said the management of the Park is fully aware of the “security situation of the areas within our legal jurisdiction and as such, we are closing ranks with other relevant stakeholders to curb the daunting challenges associated with our operations.”
