A former Head of State, General Abdusalami Abubakar (retd.) has called for renewed efforts to end the current spate of insecurity in the country, lamenting that the spate has become worrisome.
Speaking when officials of the Niger state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) paid a him a visit at his Hilltop home in Minna, the former military leader said it was worrisome that people could no longer sleep without being attacked on daily basis by criminal armed men.

“If you want to travel from one point to another, you will start to have worries; we pray that Allah will bring the solution because he has promised that there is no hardship without a solution.”
General Abubakar charged the journalists on ethical reporting, and to desist from misinforming the public especially on matters of security.
The Chairman of the NUJ Council, Abu Nmodu, said the visit was for familiarisation and to seek for former leader’s advice for the betterment of the media profession.
In a related development, the Commissioner of Police in Niger State, Monday Bala Kuryas, has challenged journalists to guard against sensational reporting that could lead to a breach of peace and tranquility in the state.
CP Kuryas described the media as a noble profession that rides on the pedals of truth, objectivity, and fairness and therefore, assured the Union and its members of support.
