AMAC, Bwari sparkle in opening matches of FCT FA U-15 tourney

The U-15 boys of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Bwari Area Council recorded convincing victories in the opening matches of the 2nd FCT Football Association Inter-Area Councils tournament which kicked off yesterday at the FIFA goal project Area 3 pitch Abuja.

In the opening match, Bwari defeated Kuje 2-0 while AMAC pummelled Kwali 6-0 in the second match.

Patrick Michael of AMAC hit the first hat-trick of the tournament while Jedidah Bako, Chukwu Wilfred and Balogun Samuel scored a goal each to complete the annihilation Kwali Area Council.

The Secretary of FCT FA, Coach Haruna Usman Ilerika said the purpose of the tournament is to discover more talents that would make the country proud in the near future.

He said the FCT FA Chairman, Adam Mouktar Mohammed is committed to taking the round leather game to the nooks and crannies of the FCT.

“This is the second edition of the U-15 tournament and the aim is to give the youths opportunity to come and exhibit their talents because training alone can’t give them the edge but training and competition will make them to be better players.

“This is exactly what we are doing to ensure we harness those talents in all the Area Councils.

“Also, this competition will prepare the FCT football team for the forthcoming National Youth Games in Ilorin, Kwara state.

“And what we have seen today is very encouraging. The primary objective is to discover, encourage and expose them,” Ilerika stressed.

While Bwari, Gwagwalada and Juje are in Group A, AMAC, Abaji and Kwali are in Group B of the cadet championship.
