Osun and Edo states have continued to maintain the lead as the number of Nigerians registering for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) online Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) have hit 2,215,832.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), Festus Okoye said this on Monday in Abuja.

The commission’s online registration portal was launched on 28 June and was followed with the applicants’ physical registration on 26 July.
According to the INEC statistics, Osun State accounted for 365,417, or over 16 percent of the total number of registrants across the country.
Edo and Bayelsa states came a distant second and third with 197,214 and 184,058 registrants while Delta and Anambra are in fourth and fifth positions with 148,445 and 114,100 registrants respectively.
Okoye also said that over 430,000 Nigerians had also completed the physical registration across the country as at Monday.
“The number of completed registration now stands at 430,363,” he noted while giving an update on the exercise which started late July.
“Because of the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State, it remained the state with the highest number of people with complete registration of 30,376, followed by Osun with 26,775 and Bauchi with 21,330,” Okoye said.
He also said that of the 430,363 people that had completed their online and physical registration, 234,561 were male while 195,802 were female; while 4,195 people with disabilities (PWDs) have completed their registration.
Also, the age distribution showed that 1,877,552 were youths; 686,583 were middle age; 284,389 were elderly; while 39, 454 were old people.
He urged all eligible citizens who had not registered before to seize the opportunity to do so, stating that those who had already registered as voters need not register again.
Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State and his wife, Eunice, on Monday did the voters revalidation at the new Polling Unit 016, Tse-Ortom in the office of the INEC in Gbajimba, headquarters of Guma LGA of the state.
The revalidation exercise followed the creation of additional polling units by INEC, necessitating the change of voting point for the governor and his wife from Tse-Ako polling unit 003 to Tse-Ortom.
The governor, after the exercise, said they were at the commission’s office to perform their civic duty and urged others to do the same.
He encouraged those who have attained the age of 18 to participate in the exercise.
Ortom said the people would have the opportunity to vote for leaders of their choice at all levels, stressing that those who registered before could also confirm their registration status in the ongoing exercise.
