Building institute holds AGM/confab

The Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) is set to hold its 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Conference.

The AGM and Conference, tagged: “Eko Akete Builders Conference”, will begin today and end on Thursday with the theme: “Advancing Technologies, Systems and Standards for Sustainable Building Construction”.

According to the National Publicity Secretary of NIOB, Akinola Bammeke, the objectives of the AGM are to retrain professionals on modern technologies, systems and standards in building construction practice; promote standardisation and right technologies for sustainable building projects delivery; and help members to understand the concept of sustainable practice in building construction.

Bammeke also stated that during the conference, its members would be made to understand advanced and emerging technology options for sustainable construction of building elements such as foundations, walls, roofs and other structural elements.

He said the conference’ sub-themes would be: the state of the art of technologies; systems and standards in building construction; understanding sustainability in building construction and advances; and emerging technology options for foundation construction.

He further said, “Other sub-themes are advances and emerging technology options for sustainable construction of structural members; advances and emerging technology options for sustainable roof construction; and soft and hard technologies for sustainable building project delivery.”

Seasoned industry practitioners and experienced academics are billed to present papers to engage the audience and stimulate robust discussions.
