The father of Nigeria’s gold medallist in men’s 200m at the 2021 World Athletics U-20 Championship, Chris Onwuzurike has said he is not surprised that his son achieved the remarkable feat in Kenya.
The youngster, Udodi Chudi Onwuzurike won Team Nigeria’s third gold medal in 200 meters with a time of 20.21 Seconds.

The exhilarating performance at the Kasarani Sports Complex in Nairobi was also his personal best.
Nigeria had emerged champions in 4x400m mixed relay, 400m women as well as two bronze medals in javelin men and 200m women respectively at the Championship.
Yesterday, the 4x400m and 4×100 women relay teams accounted for the final day medals that increased Nigeria’s haul to four gold and three bronze medals for a third place finish on the medals table.
Udodi’s father, who spoke to our correspondent, said he knew that his son would grab the gold medal.
Onwuzurike who followed his son to the championship said “I expected nothing less going by the time he won the first and second heats. We give God the glory.
“We dedicate the victory to God almighty and Nigerians for their prayers. Dodi has a bright future and I will continue with my support for him.”
