Indigenous students Of Lagos State under the aegis of the National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS), have demanded the immediate evacuation of Lagos Students at the University of Jos, Plateau State.
Plateau, North Central Niegria, has been boiling in recent times, following the killing of some Fulani people in Irigwe Community.
The University of Jos has also shut down the University indefinitely as a result of tension.
The Lagos State Students Union has, however, demanded the immediate evacuation of Lagos state students from the University, noting that majority of them are already trapped in Jos.
President of the union, Shasanya Akinola and the PRO, Hassan Abdulsalam, in a statement noted that most of the students are helpless.
They expressed worry that the students found themselves “in a state where they don’t have family to defend them, rescue and ascertain their wellbeing in the middle of the crisis…”
“For that we are so bitter and concerned about the uncertain safety of our fellow brothers and sisters, because an injury to one is an injury to all.”
“We use this medium to call on the attention of our Governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu as a matter of urgency to look into this and come up with a strategic measure to evacuate our innocent Lagos Indigenous Students who are just schooling in the University of Jos to secure a better future for themselves and their families.
“We appeal to all stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the issue of insecurity in our dear country,” the students added.
They also appealed to the Lagos students in UNIJOS “to remain calm, stay safe and out of trouble to avoid any act that will lead to the breakdown of law and order.”
