Navy arrests 4 stowaways inside propeller compartment of ship

Officers of the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS, BEECROFT, on Wednesday, said they assisted the crew of an oil tanker, MT River Shine, in the arrest of four stowaways.

The suspects: Happy Azuka, Felix Bright, Osas Kennedy and Oyingbe Lucky, allegedly boarded the ship without the knowledge of the ship’s crew with the hope of travelling to Europe.

The suspects claimed that they had been monitoring the movement of the vessel from a riverine community, Sagbo Koji, where they resided.

The Commander of NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Bashir Mohammed, while briefing the media on the arrest, said the suspects hid inside one of the propeller compartment of the ship.

He said the suspects had since been handed over to the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).
