Business activities resume in Jos hours after Lalong relaxes curfew

Normal activities are gradually resuming in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, hours after Governor Simon Lalong, relaxed the 24-hour curfew in the area.

The curfew was imposed on Sunday following the last Saturday’s killing of Fulani travellers on their way to Ondo and Ekiti states after attending religious events in Bauchi State.

The carnage triggered the killing of another seven persons on Sunday in Jos, leading to the rising tension in Jos North, Jos South, and Bassa LGAs of the state.

Residents of Jos were seen in their numbers moving from one place to another probably to meet up with their daily needs.

Some Jos residents, who were prevented from going out for five days, expressed happiness over the development, which they said would allow them to look for food items and other basic needs.

Danbaba Usman, a resident of Jos said, “I am happy that the curfew has been lifted. We have suffered. It was not easy. We pray that we will not experience such a moment again.”

Mu’azu Sani, another resident, said, “We were kept at home without having anything with us. We don’t have money to feed our family. So, it was a difficult situation. We often have to go out before we get what to eat. We thank God for the lifting of the curfew.”
