Two serving Senators from Ogun State have filed petitions against the recently conducted ward congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Senators Lekan Mustapha (Ogun East) and Tolu Odebiyi (Ogun West) challenged the conduct of the ward congress before a five-man appeal panel currently sitting in Abeokuta.

Our correspondent gathered that the panel, chaired by Mr Segun Ojo, had received three petitions.
Apart from the two Senators, elected party chairmen of 2018 in the state as well as some members of the Congress committee also submitted petitions.
Our correspondent reports that the appeal panel, during its sitting on Wednesday, invited all the parties in the petitions to defend allegations and counter-allegations regarding the congress.
It was further gathered that the Wednesday session was stormy as journalists were excused from the Conference Hotel, Abeokuta, the venue of the sitting.
But on Thursday, the Chairman of the five-man committee told newsmen that members have listened carefully to all the petitioners and those in defence.
Ojo said “We attended to all the petitioners till late night on Wednesday, and we will be here to listen to any other.
“All the petitioners have the interest of the party at heart. They want the party to be strong and united.
“There’s no acrimony in the party in the State. APC is in government in the state and we will not allow anyone to disrupt the peace of the state or disorganise the party.”
He assured that the committee would make its recommendations known and submit its report to the national body, adding that the effect of the report would be a guide to the forthcoming local government congress.
