The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) has urged the newly appointed national youth council of the organization to use their positions to contribute meaningfully to national development.

The NCWS President, Dr. Gloria Laraba Shoda, gave the charge yesterday in Abuja during the inauguration of the new executive committee members.

According to her, collective efforts are needed to bring rapid development to Nigeria.

Speaking after their inauguration, the youth president, Ambassador Sylvia Yemi Sarki, pledged that her tenure would build and extend the legacies and tenure of previous executives.

“As the popular saying goes ‘To whom much is given, much is expected. We, therefore, want to say, with all sense of responsibility that we will give our very best, exploring every means and leveraging every platform to ensure that the dreams, aspirations, and goals of this organization NCWS are achieved.”

The new executives include the National Coordinator, Comrade Sarki Sylvia Yemi, FCT, Abuja; Haruna Bright Damilola, Deputy Coordinator, Osun; Youth General Secretary, Maryann Chinonso Okorom, Imo; first Assistant Secretary, Saratu John, Kebbi; second Assistant Secretary, Kalu Anaelechi Victoria, Abia; and Treasurer, Adeoye Joy, Ondo.

Others are Financial Secretary, Daniel Amuchi Lydia, Benue; PRO 1 Fatima Ahmed, Borno; PRO II, Lilian Onyesm, Cross River; Welfare Officer, Jummai Musa Laban, Kaduna; Assistant Welfare, Ezugwu Christiana, Enugu; Research coordinator, Hadassah Ibinyingi Allaputa, Rivers; and Assistant Research Coordinator, Ephah Yila Lamino, Gombe.
