VSF supports 700 Boko Haram victims with farm inputs

The Victims Support Fund (VSF) has empowered 700 smallholder farmers who returned home to cultivate their land following recent Boko Haram attacks in Yobe State.

Donating the items Friday in Geidam Local Government Area, VSF Executive Director, Prof Nana Tanko, who was represented by the Programme Manager Livelihood and Agricultural Support, Mr Emmanuel Ojo, said the donation was meant to support farming communities earlier displaced by insurgents.

He noted that the support would boost rain-fed farming in crises affected communities and restore their livelihoods by re-establishing their agricultural and food production.

Governor Mai Mala Buni, who was represented by the commissioner for agriculture, Dr Mairo Amshi, disclosed that it is not easy for the communities who have lost almost everything to go back to their farms, adding that the support was timely.
