A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Sen. Yisa Braimoh, decried the marginalization of Owan and Akoko-Edo clans in Edo North Senatorial District in terms of political position and appointment in the state.
Braimoh, who represented the district in the National Assembly between 2003 and 2007, however, urged Estako people to concede the senate seat of the district to Owan or Akoko-Edo in 2020.

He said such a political shift will give the people of Owan and Akoko- Edo clans a sense of belonging.
He stated this Thursday in Ihievbe, Owan East local government of the state during a press conference as part of activities to mark his 79 years birthday.
“Edo North comprises Etsako, Owan and Akoko-Edo but Etsako has dominated the district’s Senatorial seat for over 25 cumulative years out of the last 35 years.
“Starting from the late ’60s of Senator Ekpomoriri Lamai to the 70s/80s and beyond, period of Senator John Umolu, Senator Franka Afegbua, to Albert Legogie, Senator Victor Oyofo and currently Senator Francis.
According to him, the 12 years of loyalty and support of Owan/Akoko-Edo clans to former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole and Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu should be reciprocated by conceding the 2023 Senate seat to Owan or Akoko-Edo clan to sustain peace, fairness, justice and equity in the polity of Edo North.
He explained that the Edo North district is made up of six local governments with Etsako occupying three, Owan two, and Akoko-Edo one but Etsako always take their population advantage to deny others fair sharing of elective position.
“Estako holds state deputy governor, Edo North Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, PDP National Vice Chairman South-South, PDP BOT Member, PDP National Deputy Women Leader, PDP State Secretary, Chairmen, Local Government service commission and House of Assembly service commission,” he added.
