FCTA alerts Mpape roadside traders on demolition

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), yesterday, alerted traders and artisans operating on the road corridors of Mpape to quit having previously issued them a demolition notice.

Mr Ikharo Attah, Chairman of FCT Ministerial Taskforce on City Sanitation, at an interactive session with newsmen, on Sunday in Abuja, expressed worry that many traders were yet to leave the road corridor two days to the expiration of the notice.

“We know the pain and tears of demolition and that is why we are pleading with them to leave the roadside before the expiration of the quit notice,” Attah said.

The chairman explained that the FCTA had appealed to the traders to move their containers and shops backwards to allow free-flow of traffic but that they have remained adamant.

Attah noted that Mpape as a gateway to and from Abuja’s main resettlement communities at Shere and Galuwi, hence the need for the road to be cleared of encumbrances.
