The corpse of an unidentified man suspected to have been knocked down by a hit and run vehicle, was on Saturday found in Maraba area of Ilorin, Kwara state capital.
Community sources who confided in Daily Trust on the incident said residents of the area woke up in the wee hours of Saturday to discover the corpse.

It was gathered that policemen from ‘A’ Division of the state police command in the metropolis evacuated the corpse from the scene of the accident.
Police sources told our reporter that they hurriedly removed the corpse to avoid an outbreak of any health hazard in the community.
“The incident happened in Maraba before Government Secondary School (GSS). With the look of things, we suspect he was knocked down by a hit-and-run vehicle.
“It was some passers-by who noticed the corpse early in the morning and called the police. And to avoid health hazards in the community because heavy-duty vehicles that frequently ply the road were already driving past it and pressing it in the process. The police have to cordon off the place and later evacuate it”, a police source submitted.
Another security source however said the police handed over the body to the Ministry of Environment.
When contacted, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Pastor Abraham Kola-Ojo who confirmed the incident said, he had ordered for the evacuation of the body and the process of his identification is ongoing.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Kwara State command Ajayi Okasanmi, said he will make enquiry and get back.
He was however yet to do so before the filling of this report.
