Three northern groups have canvassed support for Rear Admiral Murtala Hamman Yero Nyako, (rtd) as national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the party’s forthcoming national congress.
The groups, Arewa Women Business Forum, Arewa Journalists Forum, and Arewa Professional Forum in a statement released Wednesday said they endorsement of Nyako, a former governor of Adamawa State, is against the backdrop of the giant strides he made as a governor of two states; Niger and Adamawa, a former Chief of Naval Staff and other administrative positions he held in the past.

While calling on delegates of the APC as well as well-meaning Nigerians to vote for Murtala Nyako for the ruling party’s top job, the groups maintained that Nyako will drive home the next-level agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The statement jointly signed by three presidents of the groups reads: “It’s on this note, we strongly believe in his quality leadership of the APC at a time the nation is mostly bedeviled by a myriad of security challenges, bad governance across all levels of governance.
“At a time like this, we need a strong and resilient man, purposeful leadership, single minded, with a deep sense of ideology, courage, iron backbone, strong convictions to confronting these surmountable security challenges in our great nation.’’
