The Minister for Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has said the federal government will reimburse road projects executed by state governments based on quality and standard design.
The minister stated this Monday while assessing the Gashua-Yusufari road, one of the four road projects undertaken by the Yobe State government.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari has committed to making some refunds with regard to road construction.
“In the first phase, some states got their own; we also received some requests again from states, which were not considered or that were omitted, and Yobe is one of such states,” he said.
Fashola, while reacting to the repayment request, said “standard pricing for materials and also the standard design will determine the cost for reimbursement.
“We will assess the roads and file our report based on what we find, we have a method for making quantification then we will send it to the government cost control centre and they will then advise the government on what is due and payable,” he said.
Fashola also pledged to provide lasting solutions to the Nguru community living around water points to protect their houses from flooding.
The Secretary to Yobe State Government, Baba Mallam Wali, said the state constructed about 273km roads worth over N20 billion now awaiting a refund.
The projects include the Nguru-Machina, Gashua-Yusufari, Damaturu-Magza and Kaliyari Bayamari-Geidam roads.
