Justice Mahmood Abdulgaffar of the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin on Tuesday convicted a 400L student of the University of Ilorin, Joshua Ogizien, and three others charged for offences bordering on internet fraud.
The three other convicts are Toheeb Muritala, a 200L Computer Science student of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Molete; Rasheed Afeez Temitope, a graduate of Bartholomew College of Health Technology, Shao; and Olaoluwa Samuel from Lagelu Local Government of Oyo State.

Justice Abdulgaffar said the court relied on the plea of guilt by the defendants, the unchallenged testimonies of the prosecution witnesses and exhibits tendered.
He sentenced Joshua to one year in prison suspended for one year and forfeiture of the devices recovered from him and a draft of N79,000 he raised as restitution to the federal government.
Similarly, he sentenced Toheeb to one year in jail also suspended for one year and devices used to perpetrate the crime and the draft of N220,000 he raised as restitution be forfeited to the federal government.
Rasheed got six months jail each on the two counts preferred against him to run concurrently suspended by one year to enable the convict to complete his study at KWASU. The devices recovered from him were forfeited to the federal government.
Olaoluwa bagged one year in prison on count one with an option of N50,000 fine and one-year imprisonment on count two without an option of a fine.
The sentences are to be suspended for one year, while the convict’s two phones and a draft of N32,000 be forfeited to the federal government.”
They were charged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for fraud and swindling people within Ilorin and its environs.
They were arraigned on separate charges on Monday.
