362,000 indigents enrolled in Ogun Social register

No fewer than 109,000 households have been captured in Ogun State Social Register, which captures the names of indigent individuals in the state.

This translates to a database of 362,000 poor and vulnerable individuals across the state, the Coordinator of Ogun State Coordinating Units (Ogun SOCU), ‘Tunde Adebiyi disclosed in an interview with Eko Trust in Abeokuta.

Adebiyi said the register captured vulnerable individuals in all sectors, adding that 1,756 disabled and the aged were registered.

He explained that Ogun SOCU, an arm of the National Social Safety Nets programme, began the compilation of vulnerable individuals in April, 2020 with six local government areas.

He said the compilation of the data had been extended to all the 20 councils in the state, capturing 362,000 individuals.

Adebiyi explained that the register would be useful for interventions from governments, donor agencies and non-governmental bodies.
