The North East Youth Initiative for Development (NEYIF) in collaboration with Center for Information Technology Development (CITAD) has commenced training of women and youths on digital inclusion.

Flagging up the training in Damaturu, the NEYIF Executive Director, Comrade Dauda Mohammed Gombe, noted that the training was aimed at bridging the gap of women’s access to the internet.

He said women in the northeastern part of the country were left behind in terms of understanding the utilization and safety on the internet.

He said the training would cover all the 17 local government areas of the state, targeting over 500 participants.

Also speaking, one of the facilitators, Harira Wakili from CITAD, said apart from exposing participants to the use of information technology, the training was meant to expose them to report gender-based violence using their mobile phones.

Harira said, “The training will expose them on reporting gender-based violence and protect them against any harassment online.’’
