10-yr-old students memorise Qur’an in Kano

Two children, both 10 years, have memorised the complete Holy Qur’an in Kano State.

The students, Muhammad Mansur Bawa and Ammar Nura Wali, are part of the six memorisers and 39 graduates of Ummul Qura Islamiyyah School of Rijiyar Zaki area of Kano metropolis who graduated yesterday.

The school’s headmaster, Ahmad Alhassan Hamza, described the development as great achievement, attributing it to the school teachers’ doggedness, parents sacrifice and the children’s dedication.

“They children, alongside their parents have sacrificed a lot; studying so hard even when their colleagues were outside playing, glory be to God, we are all proud of them. This is quite unusual considering their age.

“We have graduated 45 students, six of whom have memorised the complete Qur’an, while most of them have memorised a reasonable part of it,” Hamza said.

He urged the parents not to relent in putting them in other advanced Islamiyyah schools to help them accomplish their missions.

Daily Trust reports that the two Quran memorisers were gifted a bicycle each.

Speaking earlier, a lecturer at the Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies, Kano, Malam Ahmad Abubakar Yunusa, attributed the current insecurity in the country to moral decadence.

He said, “If parents will put more effort in training their young children, all the social vices we are battling with, including insecurity will be history, because that is the root of the problem. The holy Prophet has asked us to teach our children three things; the love of your Prophet, the love of his family members and the recitation of holy Qur’an.”

He also reminded parents that their children were given to them as trust and will be asked on how they trained them on the day of judgment.
