The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (task force) has issued a three-day removal notice to all owners of makeshift structures, shanties, kiosks and vehicles in Maroko and Lekki coastal areas of the state.
According to the Chairman of the task force, CSP Shola Jejeloye, the order became necessary for road construction along the coastal road which served as an alternative route to the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
The road, which he said led to the Lekki Free Zone, is presently dotted by illegal structures, shanties, abandoned vehicles, containers and trading activities.
CSP Jejeloye further stated that on the expiration of the notice, officials of the agency would remove all structures, shanties, abandoned vehicles and materials in the area, noting that the removal of all encumbrances and criminal hideouts in Marwa Waterside would help reduce traffic robbery and criminal activities on the Lekki/Ajah corridor, particularly at Jakande Roundabout.
