Suspended Kano anti-graft boss petitions doctor over ‘fake’ medical report

The suspended chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, has threatened legal action against one Dr Bayo Ayodele, the doctor who allegedly gave him ‘false’ medical report which he tendered before the state House of Assembly.

The report, said to have emanated from the National Hospital, Abuja, was later denied by the hospital.

The hospital added that such a report neither exists in its database nor is any of its medical staff bearing Ayodele.

Rimin Gado was invited earlier by the Kano State House of Assembly to appear before its ad-hoc committee investigating a petition against him on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, but failed to do so, citing health grounds and attaching medical reports from the hospital.

But in a petition on Friday, Rimin Gado gave Dr Ayodele who works with the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) staff clinic, Abuja 24 hours to either clarify the controversy before the House committee or face legal action.

The petition reads: “…It is the position of our client that you later delivered him a medical report dated 7th July 2021 personally signed by you from National Hospital Abuja and on which basis you placed our client on medication and thereafter collected other samples of his blood, urines, stool and sputum for further tests which are now contained in the medical report from the same National Hospital Abuja of 12th July 2021.

“…Arising from the foregoing, we have the following instructions from our client to make the following urgent demands.

“That you respond to the veracity or otherwise of the news report as same is capable of directing the minds of the Honourable members of the Kano State House of Assembly on the true state of affairs in respect of my health.

“That you personally write a letter within 48 address and same submitted to the Clerk of the Kano State House of Assembly stating the true position of my health and medical fitness.

“Take notice that should you fail, refuse or neglect in complying with this simple but cogent demands within two clear days or 48 hours whichever is earlier in time, from the date or time of the receipt of this letter, we shall have no other option but to bring an action against you in court without further notice. Thank you.”

Rimin Gado was suspended earlier this month by the state Assembly for alleged misconduct following an altercation with the state government for rejecting its nominee into the commission.

He was later replaced with Barrister Mahmoud Balarabe as PCACC chairman in an acting capacity.
