Ilorin central mosque library gets 20,000 books

The management of Ilorin central mosque, Kwara State has said that its recently-completed library has been equipped with over 20,000 collections of books and journals.

The books, it said, covered different aspects of Islamic studies, engineering, law, accounting and English language.

The chairman of the mosque’s Central Working Committee, Alhaji Sheu AbdulGafar, said this yesterday during the meeting of the mosque’s Board of Trustees (BoT) and stakeholders in Ilorin.

He said the books were donated to enhance research and learning in Islamic jurisprudence by foreign governments and Nigerians.

AbdulGafar, while presenting the 2021 progress report of the mosque, said the management has also installed a Close Circuit Television (CCTV) for safety and security of worshipers.

The security cameras, he said, were installed both in the interior and exterior parts of the expansive mosque complex. He also said the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has approved the use of 65 plots of land at the Ilorin Eid prayer ground for investment purposes. Earlier, the mosque’s board chairman and former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Alfa Belgore, underscored the Islamic heritage of Ilorin. The former CJN, who noted that the people of Ilorin are God-fearing and peaceful, urged the people to continue in that regard for peace and development to rein in the state.
