The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has trained 204 youths in Bauchi on various ICT programs and provided starter packs, including a donation of the sum of N20,000, to each of the participants to enable them start their own businesses.
Speaking during the graduation of the trainees held at Government House Bauchi, Managing Director/CEO of the NEDC, Muhammed Goni Alkali, said the youths have series of skills acquisition in ICT to be self reliant and become employers of labour with a view to reducing the rate of unemployment in the state.

Alkali explained that the participants were carefully selected from the 20 LGAs of the state and empowered with the skills to take them off the streets and provide means of livelihood and self-sustenance to them.
Alkali advised the beneficiaries to utilize the training and quickly put to use the knowledge they have acquired as well as recruit others who they will train by expanding the scope of the scheme.
The commission also donated a number of agricultural equipment including tractors, planters, sprayers, loaders and tillers to the state government to boost agriculture production which is one of the objectives of the commission.
