Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, said about 85 per cent of the state’s allocation from the federation account is spent on payment of salaries.
He said the remaining 15 per cent is reserved for the welfare of about 3.5 million people of the state.
He stated this while inaugurating the board of the Gombe State Investment and Property Development Company, according to a statement yesterday by his spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli.
The governor lamented that the money spent on civil servants in the state was outrageous.
He, however, said his administration was committed to building the economic capacity of the state to remain independent of statutory allocation from Abuja.
