Group urges Muslim men to marry widows, divorcees

A Muslim women-focused Islamic nongovernmental organisation, Bountiis Charity Initiative has appealed to Muslim men to marry widows, divorcees and matured singles (WDS) as a way of supporting them and guard against vices in the society.

This was among the resolutions passed at the just concluded Bountiis WDS forum held in Lagos on Sunday.

Speaking at the event, the State Counsel, Lagos State Ministry of Justice’s Directorate of Public Prosecution, Ms Monsurat Olabisi Bello, urged Muslim men to marry young widows, divorcees and singles to take them out of the traumatic experience.

She called on more Islamic organisations to take up the issue of widows, orphans and divorcees.

Speaking on taking care of widows and divorcees, Aisha Adams, founder Siddiqah Foundation urged participants to always seek Allah’s forgiveness and see whatever happened as a test from Allah.

Organisations like Muslim Women for Development and Sustainability (AMW4DS), Al-Muminaat (The believing Women Organisation), Duty to Orphans and Widows Foundation (WIDOF), Muslim Mercy Aid and Relief Foundation (MMARIF), Siddiqah Foundation, Al-Hurriyah Foundation, and other organisations that have dedicated programs for widows and divorcees were present at the WDS forum to admonish participants.
