It was gathered the object contained inside a “Bobo” container was given to them by an unknown person.

An uncle of the deceased, Anwal Abubakar, told Daily Trust that it was not clear who the target was because the house where the blast occurred was attached to a mosque.

“The boy died few hours after we took them to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital for treatment. His two hands were ripped off and one of his eyes too was affected.

“The second boy is still at the hospital receiving treatment but his condition is critical too.

“The third child, who was also injured but stable, told us that it was someone that gave them the object but we are yet to ascertain the person’s mission because a mosque is attached to our house,” he said.

He described the sound that followed the explosion as very scary, saying at first they thought it was a gas explosion but it wasn’t.

Our reporter, who visited the house, reported that sympathizers were seen going into the compound to condole with the family over the incident.

No structure was affected but the footwears of one of the victims were left at the scene with bloodstains.

Daily Trust also gathered that the security agencies had searched the whole compound throughout the night and interrogated some of the occupants after the explosion occurred.

The victims’ grandmother, Hajiya Zainab Dodo, said only God knows the intention of the person that gave the innocent children the container.

“When I came out of the room after the explosion, I saw the children in a terrible condition with blood everywhere,” she said.

The Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Jalige Mohammed, who confirmed the explosion, said an investigation had commenced ascertaining what actually happened.
