Ancient city of Keffi in Nasarawa State celebrated one of its grandest moments, hosting the prestigious 2021 Keffi Ranch Polo Tournament, which came to a colourful climax last weekend with visiting Jos Malcomines and Kano sweeping the high stakes.
The defending champion made good their pre-tournament rating, clinching the President Cup, the event’s biggest prize on offer, after a hard-earned victory over Abuja Lintex and Keffi Ponys in the tense final.
Kano flag bearers leading two other contenders secured a narrow 5-41/2 win over Malcomines (3) to earn their first ever National Assembly Cup while visiting teams like Abuja Lintex and Rubicon emerged runners-up.
Bashir Dantata led Lintex finished runners up in the race for the president after easing through Keffi Ponys 8-4 in the final game, while Rubicon fell to the resurging Malco Energy from Jos in the final of the Governor’s Cup tie
Polo Royals can also report that the Keffi Polo Ranch’2021 rumble pitched teams from major polo clubs across the country to raise funds to aid the plight of orphans, internally displaced persons and the less privileged in Nasarawa State.
Governor Engineer Abdulahi Sule who was the special guest of honour pledged the support of his administration to the Keffi Polo Ranch initiative in supporting the improvement of education and empowering the less privileged in the state.
