FG gives sweet potato lifeline

As part of efforts to check the looming crises of food security occasion by the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, the federal government is charting a new course to uncover the potentials in sweet potato production.

The Director, Agriculture, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Hajia Karima Babangida, made this known on Monday at the potato value chain stakeholders meeting on “Adaption of Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

Hajia Babangida, who was represented by her Regional Director, North West, Engr Ubandoma Ularamu, said the federal government was determined to make the farming of OFSP among the smallholder farmers as one of the popular crops.
