Two persons have died while 13 vehicles were burnt when a fuel-laden tanker exploded in the early hours of Tuesday around Ogere axis on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Daily Trust gathered that the tanker fell and went up in flames around 6 am.
It was further gathered that the incident, which occurred around Ogere Remo via Toll Gate on the expressway, disrupted vehicular movement.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the death of two persons while six tankers, five trucks and two cars were destroyed.
The FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, Ahmed Umar said, “The fire is serious, six tankers, five trucks and two cars were burnt in the explosion.”
He noted that the deceased had been evacuated by the relatives for burial.
Meanwhile, Ogun State’s Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has urged motorists to ply the alternative routes while rescue operations last.
