Gunmen kill another man in Ibadan

Our correspondent gathered that the man who was shot in his private part died at an undisclosed hospital in Ojoo.

Eyewitness told Daily Trust that the man was suspected to have been shot dead after withdrawing a huge amount of money from a new generation bank at the main gate of the University of Ibadan.

“I saw him when he was being taken to hospital in a Micra. I was just coming out of the UI when the incident happened. I saw the guy and I am sure he was dead,” he said.

Another eyewitness said: “I also heard about it. I saw people gathering there”.

A video going viral on the social media showed lifeless body of the deceased on the floor, around the University of Ibadan on Monday.

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, said he was not aware of the killing.

“I am not aware. The DPO in the area has gone to the place but he couldn’t get any information,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Police Command on Monday paraded three members of the Park Management System (PMS) in connection with the killing of Ramon Azeez, son of the owner of Iwo-Road shopping complex in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko, who paraded the suspects at the Command headquarters in Eleyele Ibadan said: “Justice will prevail.”

According to her, there are still more suspects to be arrested in connection with the mayhem, adding that the command had put in place necessary measures to arrest all those involved.

While assuring members of the public of their safety, Onadeko said the command will continue to do its best despite criticisms from the members of the public.

On the spate of killings in Ibadan, the commissioner said more tactical teams had been deployed across the state in order to nip the attacks in the bud.

She solicited the support of the residents in the area of intelligent information in order to ensure the safety of lives and property.

One of the suspects, Omoniyi Eleni, explained that the crisis started when a motorist parked at the wrong place in Iwo road.
