In its drive to bring tax defaulters to book with the aim of boosting the IGR of the State, the Katsina State Board of Internal Revenue, has instituted two separate legal actions against Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) at Tax Appeal Tribunal (TAT), Kaduna.
A statement signed by the Chairman and Chief Executive of the Board, Alhaji Mustapha Muhammad Sirajo, said the two separate suits were both relating to failure to remit Pay As You Earn deducted from staff salaries from 2013 to 2018 and from 2019 to 2020 respectively.

“The Legal Adviser of the Board who is representing the Board at the Tax Appeal Tribunal, reported that the first case has been heard on Monday the 7th day of June 2021 with both parties in attendance, while the second case is due to be mentioned at a later date to be communicated by the tribunal,” the statement read in part.
The statement added that after mentioning the case, the presiding judge adjourned the proceedings to the 5th of July, 2021 for hearing.
The Chairman of the Revenue Board, therefore, advised erring taxpayers and defaulters to come forward to ensure the payment of all outstanding liabilities.
He also advised citizens to ensure prompt compliance with all revenue and tax obligations to avoid prosecution.
