The Yobe Muslim Ummah Forum, a body under the auspices of the National Islamic Centre, Zaria, has inaugurated 14 working committees to spearhead its activities in the state.
Presiding over the inauguration in Damaturu, the National Amir, National Islamic Centre, Zaria, Professor Babangida Muhammad, tasked the committee members to adhere to the specifications and roles of its establishment.
He commended the forum for coming up with an initiative aimed at improving the general welfare of the Muslim faithful in the state.
According to him a similar organisation was established in Kano to provide humanitarian and other services to communities.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman Shurah Committee of the forum, Wakil Kaku, said the primary objective of the organisation was to promote unity among the Muslim Ummah as well as assist in the execution of programmes that will attract tremendous benefits to the generality of the ummah across the state.
He said the membership of the committees was drawn from various sectors of development; religious, security, legal and media among others.
