Gulak’s killing: Lawan, Omo-Agege caution gainst reprisal

Senate President Ahmad Lawan and his deputy, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege on Monday condemned the gruesome murder of a former presidential aide and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Ahmed Gulak.

The duo cautioned against reprisal.

Lawan, in a statement by his media aide, Ola Awoniyi, appealed for restraint on the part of those calling for revenge, saying they should allow the relevant authorities to serve justice on the matter as the injury of the crime was inflicted on Nigeria as a whole.

He described the dastardly act as one crime too many and called for a swift investigation to bring all who are involved in the crime to justice.

Lawan said there could be no justification for the brutal murder of a human being and fellow citizen.

Similarly, Omo-Agege called for restraints “on the part of those irked by the dastardly act. Reprisal attacks would only exacerbate the already tensed situation.”

Omo-Agege, in a statement by his spokesman, Yomi Odunuga, described Gulak’s assassination as wicked, dastardly, callous and barbaric.

He urged the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators and their sponsors to face the full wrath of the law.
