LG polls: Chairmanship aspirant cries out over APC primaries

A chairmanship aspirant in Kaduna North Local Government Area on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Yusuf Idris Amoke, has accused the party of conducting a bogus primary election on May 8, 2021.

Com Amoke, at a news conference in Kaduna, said after successfully passing the exams and screening exercise of the party, a charade took place, and therefore called on the party leadership to, in the spirit of justice and fairness, fix a new date for the chairmanship primary for Kaduna North.

He stated that having passed the screening exercise, he was not contacted on the next line of action concerning the primary, adding that his campaign organisation had written a formal complaint letter to that effect but that there had been no response from the APC.

He lamented that there was no result sheet in all of the materials distributed to the entire wards on the day of the primary across the local government.

“Party membership revalidation exercise was supposed to have been over, but people were seen being registered even on the date set aside for the primary. There was no certified and verified voters register.

“Details of primary election modalities were not disclosed to aspirants, no results sheets, no verified voters register and no accreditation whatsoever and the absence of all these invalidates any election,” he said.

He urged Governor Nasir el-Rufai and the APC to do the right thing in the spirit of fairness and confidence building.

The state APC acting Publicity Secretary, Tanko Wosono, could not be reached for comment.
