Two suspected “one chance” robbers were on Monday afternoon burnt to death in a town on the fringes of Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Madalla, the town where the robbers were lynched, is actually in Niger State, but is largely populated by people who work and do business in Abuja.

It was gathered that the suspects were trailed by a mob from Kaduna Road off the Abuja-Kaduna Highway, where they were said to have robbed a resident of money.
“They were caught up with at the Madalla market where there is a perennial gridlock on the highway,” a resident, Sulaiman Ahmad, told Daily Trust.
He said the two were burnt along with the vehicle they were driving in, a Volkswagen Golf, while their accomplice, who jumped out before the attack, was rescued by the police.
The Madalla Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Adamu Danjuma, confirmed the incident but could not confirm reports by witnesses that a gun and fake currencies were recovered from the vehicle before it was burnt.
