How Sallah gift, cash donations excited orphans in Bauchi

Children at Bauchi Orphanage jumped into jubilation on Tuesday as they received clothing materials and cash donations to enable them celebrate this year’s Eid-el Fitr.

The donation came from a nongovernmental organization, Northern Youths and Students Front for Ogbonnaya Onu for  President 2023.

The children who patiently listen to the visitors and waited until the end of the  event after which each one of them received his share started jubilating in appreciation of the gesture.

The children expressed their joy and happiness for the kind gesture appealing to other well-meaning Nigerians to come to their aid.

Speaking with journalists a 10-year-old orphan, Fatima said, “The management of orphanage home is taking care of us and they have brought new clothes, shoes and other materials for Sallah to all of us but this singular gesture renewed the Sallah celebration. We are excited by the show of love, care from the section of the society and we have to demonstrate our joy and happiness for the gesture. We pray Almighty Allah to bless them for remembering us.”

Responding, the Acting Head, Bauchi  Agency for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (BASOVCA) Adamu Abubakar thanked the group for the donation and

assured that all the items donated will be judiciously used by the children.

“You can see that each child was given what was his, hers. We will do as has been directed by the donors for the good of the children.”

Earlier in his remark, the national spokesperson of the movement, Comrade Abubakar Ismail, said that the aim is to bring succor to the children and other vulnerable individuals to make them have a sense of belonging.

Ismail explained that the movement was formed by old students taught by Minister of Science and Technology Ogbonnaya Onu while lecturing at the University of Port Harcourt as well as other youth from the north.

“We came together to do something in his name considering what he did for us. We want him to aspire for the presidency come 2023.”

“During the last Ramadan fasting we distributed food items, in the remaining states, we are visiting orphanages, correctional and rehabilitation centers to donate clothing and money to them because they need sense of belonging like other children with parents,” he said.
