“They also looted shops unchallenged because they overwhelmed the security operatives stationed at the town. They spent about two hours inside patrolling the streets of the town and looting shops.
“The streets of the community became empty within a short time as residents dashed into their houses and banged the doors behind them,” a resident Bilyaminu Dansadau told Daily Trust.
He said some of them stayed at the periphery of the community while others moved in. They fired several gunshots as they moved into the forest with the rustled cattle.
The invasion followed the killing of a suspected armed bandit by a newly formed group in the town.
The armed criminals have attempted to attack the town some days back when they came to the outskirts of the community to fire gunshots.
The spokesman for the state police command, SP Muhammad Shehu could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
