The Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Idris Wase, his deputy, have called on Muslims to use the Eid-El-Fitr period to pray for peace as well as peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
They made the call in separate statements on Wednesday.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Lanre Lasisi, Gbajabiamila said it was incumbent on the Muslims after supplications during the just concluded month of Ramadan, to pray that the Almighty Allah brings peace to our land.
Gbajabiamila said Nigeria is facing challenges at the moment, so as citizens, “We should pray to our Creator for solutions even as leaders try their best to address the issues.”
He congratulated Nigerian Muslims for the successful completion of fasting in the Holy Month of Ramadan, praying that Allah would accept their acts of Ibadah during the period.
On his part, Wase urged Muslims to reflect on their spiritual lives as individuals and how they can contribute more meaningfully towards the unity, stability and progress of Nigeria.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Umar Muhammad Puma, he asked Nigerians to be conscious of their health by strictly adhering to the COVID 19 protocols.
Wase further stated that the recent out break of third wave in some countries is a source for concern for all Nigerians.
The deputy speaker called on all Nigerians to be more dedicated to the Nigerian project, adding that with unity of purpose, building a virile and strong nation is achievable.
