Insecurity: FCTA arrests 150 beggars

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has arrested over 150 beggars as part of its renewed commitment to ridding the city of nuisance to ensure security of lives and property.

Ihkaro Attah, Chairman, FCTA Ministerial Taskforce on City Sanitation, disclosed this in Abuja on Tuesday while briefing newsmen after combined operations with other relevant agencies.

Officials of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board and the Social Development Secretariat were part of the operations.

“In the last two days over 150 beggars have been apprehended across the city and more arrest is still going on,” Attah said.

He said those apprehended were taken to the Bwari Area Council Centre for Rehabilitation, adding that FCT had a functional rehabilitation and training centre for such persons.
