Residents living close to the scene told Daily Trust that the train was conveying the crane expected to be used in lifting up another train that fell a week ago.
“The train was conveying the crane to be used to lift another train that fell a week ago but unfortunately, it slid off the track and fell on vehicles assembled for sale besides the rail track closed to Arewa House and injuring three persons,” a resident said.
Our correspondent who visited the scene observed that the train was still at the spot days after the incident but policemen were stationed at the scene to prevent hoodlums from tampering with the crane and other equipment from the train.
Confirming the incident, Marshal Garba Yahaya Rimi of KASTELEA said the three persons injured were taken to hospital and that the crane damaged a few vehicles close to the rail track.
