Controller decries attacks on firefighters, urges supports

The Controller General of Federal Fire Service (FFS), Liman Alhaji Ibrahim, has decried the hostile attitude of citizens towards firefighters at fire scenes, saying they should rather appreciate and support them for the sacrifices they make in saving lives and property during emergencies.

The CG, in a statement issued by the service’s spokesman, Ugo Huan, on the occasion of this year’s International Fire Fighters’ Day (IFFD), called on citizens to desist from attacks of firefighters and destruction of fire trucks at fire scenes as that would dampen the morale of firefighters who risked their lives to save those of others and their property.

He said IFFD was instituted to honour those that lost their lives during fire emergencies and celebrate dedicated firefighters who risked their lives every day while saving lives and property.

The CG specially eulogized all Nigerian firefighters at all levels and those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
