Two armed robbery suspects, Nnonyelu Kelechukwu and Okongi Godspower, who deal in stolen cars, have been arrested in Lagos.
The suspects were arrested in FESTAC town while trying to sell a Lexus Sports Utility vehicle to an unsuspecting member of the public.
Police said the suspects allegedly stole the car from where it was parked at Alaba Rago Area of Ojo.
Lagos State Police Spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the robbers were arrested by police operatives from the Festac Division of the Lagos State Police Command.
Adejobi said the robbers were arrested on April 29, 2021, at about 9am while in possession of a stolen car.
According to him, some community leaders in Festac had informed the DPO that the suspects wanted to sell one unregistered Lexus 2004 SUV to one Anas at the rate of one million naira and they suspected the vehicle to be a stolen one.
“The DPO and his team tracked down and arrested the suspects and the unregistered Lexus SUV was recovered to the station.
“The suspects have confessed that they stole the vehicle from somewhere in Alaba-Rago Area of Lagos State.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that they should be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for an investigation and possible arrest of other members of the gang,” he added.
