Insurgency: I’ll change the narrative in Borno — Zulum

Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum, has promised to change the narrative in the state from one besieged by insurgency to one of the most peaceful states in the country.

Zulum spoke in Owerri, the Imo State capital, Friday while receiving a formal invitation to the 2021 Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Summit, organised by the state chapter, where he will also be given a ‘Distinguished Leadership Award’ during the ceremony on May 25.

He said he has been able to contain the activities of the insurgents in the city centre, adding that it will be a matter of time before the insurgents will be checked in the entire state.

Zulum, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant on Media, Baba Shiek Haruna, and the Special Adviser on Community Relations, Chief Kester Ogualili, said “Though we’ve been experiencing a lot of challenges, but we are working hard at changing the narrative in Borno State.”

Zulum, who reiterated that the unity of Nigeria cannot be compromised, said that he has tried to run an all-inclusive administration where people from all parts of the country are represented.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser on Community Relations, Kester Ogualili, described Zulum as one of the most detribalised Nigerians, stressing that the Igbo community in Borno State are so proud that the honour was coming from the East.
